Today, God’s gift to Republicans is in a hot primary in New York’s 14th District. Her opponent is apparently a pro-business Democrat who was moved to run after Cortez’ opposition to Amazon's HQ move.
This opponent is former CNBC anchor Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, and I can’t find much about her positions on issues, but apparently many of them are in her book. I haven’t read it, and her positions aren’t flooding the first page of my search queries, but she touched on a few during her "debate" (below). This Business Insider article tries to make her sound sane:
Arguably the strongest contender to replace the democratic socialist is the former CNBC host Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, 53, who is running in the Democratic primary in the Bronx-Queens district and raised almost $1 million in the first quarter of this year.
Caruso-Cabrera, a former self-described "Whole Foods Republican" who wrote a 2010 book calling for small government and fiscal conservatism, is positioning herself as a pro-business centrist to the right of Ocasio-Cortez.
The apparent illusion of sanity for Cortez’ opponent scares me; not for her positions, but she has a chance to beat Cortez.
I don’t want this AOC crazy train to end. She’s provided us with so many laughs, from cow farts to the three chambers of government: presidency, House, and Senate. I can’t believe two years have passed already. I haven’t even had a chance to complete our collection of AOC memes! I just need a little more time.
If Cortez wins, we can continue to point to the lawlessness of AntiFa, and tell New Yorkers “Hey, you want this”. Jobs and tourists will continue to avoid New York City like the plague, and residents will continue to flee to ruin other states.
If she loses, it proves New York City at least cares somewhat about their city, and Americans do want New York City to be great again, but we’d lose some of the best comedy we’ve ever had. Nobody can fill the void of AOC’s intellectual void.
Sure, there’s other clowns in Congress who look like characters in a slapstick comedy, like Sheldon Whitehouse. Nadler is always a barrel of laughs, and who’s funnier to look at than pencil-neck himself, but AOC brings real intellectual clown-show comedy to the masses like nobody else.
In the end, if she loses, Trump wins, and we lose the comedy, but the 14th District has a slightly less Marxist representative. If she wins, Trump still wins, and we keep the comedy, and force the 14th to waddle in their own consequences for a few more years.
If you wanted a good comedy show, watch the only “debate” between the candidates below. The masks are so stupid, but hey, it’s New York City. At the beginning, Cabrera comes right out of the gate and throws punches at AOC, but overall the debate is what you'd expect: Marxists trying to virtue signal.
Cabrera couldn’t put away the clown, but held a pro-business position, and supported Israel. Cabrera seemed to rely on her TV hosting skills to deliver her message, but the stupid mask got in the way and didn't show off her good looks; she looked like an AntiFa terrorist to me.
One final note, I think AOC is weak in the district because of how Cabrera continued to pound the Amazon fiasco. It tells me she knows that is a very unpopular issue, which tells me the people are angry with Cortez. Her defenders say "it wasn't even in her district", but the truth is you can actually live in one district and work in another. I know, weird, right? Anyway, Cabrera did make the point that many in the district had big plans to expand after the deal.
