Businesses have the freedom to provide goods and services to whomever they wish. A Muslim bakery has the freedom to not bake a cake for a gay wedding. A gym owner has the freedom to refuse memberships to police officers. Businesses are free to adhere to their religious views, and they're free to be assholes. The free market ultimately will decide their success or demise.
Google is successful because they have not been forced to operate within the bounds of the free market. They are a child of the government we pay for.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai has never started a business on his own, according to the biographies I have seen online, but please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm fascinated that the man at the helm of the biggest company in the world has never started a business. It would be very hard for me to impart onto an academic, like Pichai, how difficult it is to take a company from zero to break even with no daddy government to hold you up so you don't drown.
He came from nice, cushy academia to nice, cushy Google. I don't doubt he's a talented engineer or manager, but he's never struggled in business. I admit I tend to be biased against people like this who rose through the ranks of an already established company, especially a company launched by taxpayers.
I know Mr. Pichai was not there at the beginning, but he's at the helm right now. I'm not trying to demean Mr. Pichai, but he and Google need to know their place. They've never had to compete like us small business owners. People like that should have no control over American consumers and content creators:
Affected creators are unable to make money from their work, which is automatically flagged or vetted by volunteer “experts.” In addition, the new system incorporates “tougher standards” for controversial videos that do not break YouTube’s terms of service, which are placed in a purgatory state that effectively censors them from being recommended to YouTube viewers.
The Daily Caller spoke to conservative and independent YouTubers whose channels are now being affected by the new policy. Conservative journalist Lauren Southern believes there is a drive to stifle politically divergent voices.
“I think it would be insane to suggest there’s not an active effort to censor conservative and independent views,” said Southern. “Considering most of Silicon Valley participate in the censorship of alleged ‘hate speech,’ diversity hiring and inclusivity committees. Their entire model is based around a far left outline. There’s no merit hiring, there’s no support of free speech and there certainly is not an equal representation of political views at these companies.”
They look down at us from their ivory tower built with our tax dollars. They are no more enlightened than the average American, especially Americans like us with battle scars from launching small businesses. They have no businesses telling us how we should think.
Google is now a monopoly. The argument that there are other search engines has no merit. The technology of alternative search engines is decades behind Google's. Writing a crawler and indexing it into a search system isn't hard. Hard, for example, is parsing the audio in video, figuring out the context, and indexing it. Google is the only game in town at a high level, thanks to the government.
Google needs to have their core technology open-sourced. They don't own it. They didn't create it. It belongs to us, the people.
I saw a clip with Tucker Carlson saying Google needs to be regulated by the government and treated as a utility because they're so big. That's like when one of Jeffery Dahmer's victims escaped, but a police officer found him and took him back to Dahmer. They are not too big with too much control because they just kicked ass in the free market and stomped their competition. They are what they are because of government. Not just government, but intelligence agencies. Why put the government in charge of regulating itself? That makes absolutely no sense and is not a solution.
James Damore exposed the cult-like Orwellian culture instituted by Mr. Pichai. That oppressive environment is something only an academic with no business ownership experience could dream of. When you have a Marxist running the company that cares nothing about competition, you get Google.
Damore has been another monkey wrench in the Marxists plans, just like how Wikileaks exposed Hillary Clinton and the CIA. They can't tolerate free thinking and discussion within their own company, so there's no question they can't tolerate it in the public sphere. They are triggered by radical concepts like "men are biologically different than women" and can't be entrusted to operate objectively and impartially.
Google employees, the recent glimpse into your corporate culture has the entire country laughing at you. You are in the minority and a joke for everyone to see. You are even a minority in your own company.
I personally don't have a problem with intelligence and defense agencies incubating and feeding technology to Google if they have some secret stuff going on to benefit our country and national security, and are going to behave as a public utility since they are customer-facing. DARPA, for example, gave us the internet. The problem is when they use that technology against us and stifle our free speech on a taxpayer funded platform.
Google is now an organization tasked with stomping out pro-American thought. There's a reason Google was very close with Obama and is in sync with Organizing For American, AntiFa, SPLC, and other anti-American Bill Ayers/Weather Underground-like outfits. In the Marxist fight against Americans, Google's job is to attack us from the web. AntiFa is organized from the ground. SPLC is looking like a node in a financing network. They all play their role in trying to prevent free speech.
Alphabet holds the deep technology. The Google engineers maintain APIs to their services and develop open source projects, but they don't have anything to do with the cool stuff. At least the non-CIA employees don't. Snowden and Wikileaks have exposed what then Google, but now Alphabet, is.
I don't care about Facebook. People can leave Facebook and go elsewhere. It is still possible for developers to innovate a better social media platform with the challenge of gaining market share. Facebook offers nothing special beyond everyone (except me) uses it. Google is a different monster.
Google, you screwed up. You decided to go against the American people and hitch your wagon to the most oppressive and anti-American elements in our country. If you were a product of the free market, then all would be fine, but you aren't. Government has made you immune to competition, but nobody lives forever. The invisible hand of capitalism will bitch-slap you down by jump-starting a new internet and render you obscure. It may be via satellite, or it may be some new technology that we can't anticipate. It may be next week, or it may be in ten years, but whenever and whatever the medium you will be the next MySpace or Blockbuster.
Now do no evil and give us the technology that we paid for so we can compete.
