Democrat Virginia governor Ralph Northam swore in the state’s Secretary of Education Atif Qarni on a copy of the Quran in 2018, according to the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR).
Northam, under fire for his well-documented racism and his support for infanticide, presided over the Quran swearing-in, according to a Siasat report shared by CAIR on Facebook on January 16, 2018. Northam appointed Qarni to the position, announcing Qarni’s appointment at Beville Middle School, where Qarni, a Pakistani immigrant, worked as a civics teacher.
